Wisconsin Muslim Civic Alliance Calls for Resignation of Brookfield Alderman Following Anti-Muslim and Violent Rhetoric
The Wisconsin Muslim Civic Alliance (WMCA) strongly condemns a series of public statements made by Brookfield Alderman Kristian Seals, which include anti-Muslim rhetoric, xenophobic language, and comments that appear to endorse violence.
Even more concerning, Alderman Seals has since stood by these remarks, doubling down rather than taking accountability for the harm caused.
These statements, ranging from dehumanizing language toward Muslims and immigrants to references that normalize violence are not only offensive, they are dangerous. When elected officials use their platform to spread fear and division, it undermines public trust and puts entire communities at risk.
Public office is a position of responsibility. It requires a commitment to serve all constituents with respect, dignity, and integrity. Alderman Seals’ actions represent a clear failure to meet that standard.
“At a time when communities are already facing increased fear and uncertainty, this kind of language from an elected official is not only unacceptable—it is dangerous,” said Fauzia Qureshi, Executive Director of WMCA. “Doubling down on harmful rhetoric instead of taking accountability only deepens the harm. Leadership requires responsibility, and this falls far short.”
In light of these actions, WMCA is calling for:
The immediate resignation of Alderman Kristian Seals
Clear accountability measures from local leadership
A public reaffirmation of Brookfield’s commitment to inclusion, safety, and respect for all residents
WMCA stands in solidarity with those impacted by this rhetoric and remains committed to ensuring that Wisconsin is a place where all people regardless of faith or background can live with dignity, safety, and respect.
