Islamophobia Incident Tracker
WMCA is committed to fighting against anti-Muslim hate in Wisconsin. In our 2024 survey of the Wisconsin Muslim community, a majority of respondents stated Islamophobia as a top policy concern for Muslims in Wisconsin. Accordingly, WMCA works to advocate against Islamophobia at all levels of government on behalf of the Muslim community.
In order to better serve the community, we have set up this incident tracker to get a better understanding and awareness about the anti-Muslim incidents occurring in Wisconsin. Submit the form below if you have been a victim of anti-Muslim hate in Wisconsin.
-
If you believe that you or someone else’s life is in danger, or that a crime has been committed, please call 9-1-1 first to report the incident to law enforcement.
The purpose of collecting this data through these incident forms is to alert the WMCA of anti-Muslim incidents in Wisconsin. Through collecting this data we hope to better advocate for policies that counter Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hate.
The form should take you approximately 5 to 10 minutes to complete. In order for WMCA to have a proper understanding of the incident, it is helpful that you include as much information as possible.
For the purposes of this incident form, Islamophobia or anti-Muslim hate is defined as fear, hatred, or prejudice towards Islam or Muslims that results in discrimination, marginalization, and oppression. Anti-Muslim hate can manifest in a multitude of different ways including but not limited to: assault, harrassment, anti-Mosque activity (vandalism, graffiti, break-ins, etc.), anti-Muslim demonstrations, anti-Muslim political rhetoric, bias in news media or publications, and anti-Muslim legislation or policies.
We encourage you to fill out this form even if you are uncertain if the incident constitutes anti-Muslim hate or prejudice. We will review the details and make a determination whether to include your incident in our data.
-
WMCA intends to use the information collected to get a better grasp of the amount and type of anti-Muslim incidents occuring in Wisconsin. We may take the data collected to create a report to share with policymakers and stakeholders, however, we will not publicly share names of the victims or complainants. We will do our best to remove any identifying information when creating a report of the submissions in this incident tracker. WMCA staff may reach out to you to ask clarifying questions regarding the incident.
-
By submitting this form, you are consenting to WMCA sharing the incident in its publications and for the purpose of conducting its policy work to counter anti-Muslim hate in Wisconsin. This submission does not constitute an intake form or create any attorney/client relationship between WMCA and the party submitting the form.
